[00:00:05.23] Title: News from the Universe.
[00:00:11.66] September 17, 2026. Roman Telescope Launches.
[00:00:19.66] On August 30, 2026, NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
[00:00:30.81] The telescope is now en route to a stable gravitational position beyond the moon, near where the James Webb Space Telescope is positioned.
[00:00:41.96] Roman's journey to its final orbit will take three months and about one million miles.
[00:00:49.95] As an infrared-light survey telescope, Roman will capture large swaths of the sky that will provide 1.4 terabytes of data each day, the equivalent of 300,000 hi-res digital photos.
[00:01:05.87] Astronomers will use this wealth of information to explore cosmic mysteries including dark matter, dark energy, and worlds outside of our solar system, known as exoplanets.
[00:01:18.44] NASA anticipates releasing Roman's first images by early 2027.
